As the Test Manager for a new postgraduate application portal project, Richard led the test assurance of the new Dynamics D365 solution and integration with Banner CRM. His role encompassed defining and implementing the test strategy and providing overall test assurance across test phases. He closely collaborated with internal and supplier teams, running daily bug triage meetings and providing critical reporting to stakeholders, ensuring seamless delivery of this cloud-based platform.

Richard simultaneously managed testing across four projects for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. He was instrumental in designing and delivering test strategies tailored to each project, utilizing tools like Microsoft Project and Smartsheet for meticulous planning. His expertise in Azure DevOps ensured efficient management of test deliverables and bug tracking. By fostering collaboration across teams and stakeholders, he maintained high standards of governance throughout the testing lifecycle.

As Programme Test manager, Richard managed the test assurance of the Student Journey Transformation Programme, a critical initiative involving the insegration of over 30 existing systems with a new ERP SaaS platform(U4SM/Thesis). He developed a comprehensive test strategy and managed a team of 10 analysts, ensuring seamless delivery of all test phases. His implementation of an automation framework enhanced the university’s ability to reduce testing costs post implementation.

As programme Test Manager Richard oversaw the testing of a tri-force collaboration project between three police forces to merge data onto a shared system. With no formal requirements in place, he facilitated user sessions to identify workflows, create user stories, and define acceptance criteria. Richard standardized testing processes across all forces, ensuring efficient collaboration and successful implementation of the shared platform.

As hands on test test Richard led the user acceptance testing for the Northern Ireland rollout of the Personal Independence Payment system. He ensured thorough validation of system functionality and user workflows, collaborating closely with stakeholders in Stormont to meet tight implementation deadlines. His work ensured a smooth and compliant launch of this critical welfare program.

As Test Manager Richard established a new testing function for the University of Nottingham, laying the groundwork for its successful handover to a permanent team. He crafted test policy and strategies, introduced an automation framework, Interviewed for permanent test resource and delivered a robust testing suite, enabling the university to streamline its future testing processes and ensure system reliability.
